For this week, continue to tell us more about your tree.

Are there any changes to the tree since your last observation?
Do you notice something you didn't before?
Describe the different parts of your tree.
Do you have new thoughts about your tree based on what we learned in class?
How might you describe your trees growth or measure your tree?

3/14/2013 09:24:31 am

To 108x:
Really? My tree is the opposite. It's so tall I can't measure it. It's probably about 50 or 60 feet tall. I wish I could measure it.

109P
3/18/2013 09:39:08 am

why don't you try the way we did it in science

108x
3/11/2013 09:27:09 am

I think my tree is young, that's why it's short.

108x
3/11/2013 09:37:17 am

I'm saying maybe it's 28 years old or something. I'm also adding that my tree is in my neighbors' front yard. And that the snowdrop flowers are dying. :(

My tree is located at St.Marks place across the street from my house.
My tree is American Sycamore tree it has a blotchy trunk. There aren't any leaves on the tree yet.The tree is growing next to the sidewalk. And
somebody's yard.I see it everyday and its my favorite.I think it is 27 years old.

108 L
3/11/2013 10:41:53 am

3/13/2013 08:40:27 am

To 108L:
My tree doesn't have any leaves on it yet either.

108F
3/11/2013 10:54:04 am

I don't notice anything different about my tree. The different parts of the
tree are the roots which I can't describe, the trunk which pretty much
goes straight up and the branches that zigzag a lot.I don't have any new thoughts on my tree.i'd mesaure it by standing back from the tree looking at a ruler until it is the same hight as the tree. Then laying the
ruler on it's side then marking the far end of the ruler and measuring the
distance of the tree to the mark that distance equals the hight of the tree.

108x
3/12/2013 08:54:45 am

There's no change in mine, to! :)

4.No I do not have any new thoughts about my tree.
5.I could use a peice of string,a ruler,a tape measure,and two helpers.

108x
3/12/2013 09:09:53 am

3/13/2013 07:47:26 am

My tree has some changes!!!! , compare to last week , my tree now is full of buds.
I see more branches growing, I expect my tree in the next few weeks to be full of leaves and blossoms,
I didn't measure my tree, but I guess it is ~ 9 feet!

108k
3/13/2013 08:32:50 am

There is one big change I noticed this week on my tree,it has lots of buds on its branches.
The parts of my tree are the root's the trunk the outside of the trunk is the bark and the top of the tree is the crown which has lots of branches.
The tree is much taller than me so I would get a ladder and use it to climb to the top to measure it.

108C
3/14/2013 10:01:44 am

Or use a ruler to measure it.

108k
3/13/2013 07:57:08 am

I just knowdest that there are buds on my tree.

108o
3/14/2013 08:17:46 am

I don`t see any changes in my tree.I don`t think it will grow any taller because it is old.I have noticed that there is moss growing on the trunk of the tree. The roots of the tree go in the ground and pop back up some were else. Then comes the trunk, the limbs, and the branches. My tree is to big to guess how high it is but the trunk is 66 inches or 5 feet 6 inches.

HI 108O,

I sent another student a note about her tree. My tree is 86 feet. How tall is your tree? Is it taller than mine? I guess it is pretty big.

Your classmate

3/14/2013 09:23:23 am

My tree has tiny buds now! :)

110V
3/17/2013 05:01:27 am

So does mine

108r
3/14/2013 09:34:01 am

My tree still has no buds on its' branches. I have noticed that there are wires hanging down by my tree. North of my tree there is a ledge with bushes, trees, and poison berries. There is also a tall light that is on the ledge. Around my tree next to the bricks, wood, and vines there is a table with two chairs. Not much of my tree has changed since last week.

108B
3/16/2013 05:29:38 am

WOW! Around your tree has bricks, wood and vines. Also my tree has no buds.

Your friend,

108B
3/14/2013 09:44:01 am

1) There are no changes in my tree.
2) There are some leaves and it seems that there are more branches.
3) There is a trunk at the bottom , than on top of the trunk there are thin branches and on top of the thin branches there are skinny branches.
4) there are no new thoughts about my tree.
5) I will use my thumb to measure my tree. My tree is 86 feet also it is as tall as the 4th floor(apt. 4401).

108C
3/14/2013 09:58:15 am

1) more leaves have dropped.
2)there is an unfinished birds nest.there are many buds.my tree is 15' tall.one part is woodier.new branches are smoother and dark red.you can see where it stopped growing previous winters.
3)no.
4)by using my thumb or a ruler.

108H
3/16/2013 05:26:28 am

My tree is 32 years old and I am happy because it is my tree and it is still healthy. My tree's name is Max.

3/17/2013 02:21:11 am

108i
3/17/2013 04:04:26 am

My tree has new branches that have color of lime green and lemon yellow mixed. The new branches are thinner than the old branches.

108v
3/17/2013 08:45:10 am

My tree is about 70 inches. The trunk is an inch.I saw a squirrel climb it, but my tree bent. There is no changes.

108w
3/17/2013 09:18:21 am

1.There has not been any changes since I last checked.
2.I have not seen anything different.
3.The different parts of my tree are the trunk, the branches, and the leaves they are all very old and the trunk splits into 4.
5.I have not thought of new thoughts for my tree.
6.My tree probably does not grow so fast anymore because it is very old

108s
3/17/2013 09:37:54 am

My tree is 10 feet high.It is 6 1/2 inches around.I see tiny buds that were not there last time.

108Q
3/17/2013 12:49:13 pm

My tree is different now then last week. Now I see some little brown balls. My tree branches are wide and long.My tree is 36 feet tall approximatly because it's more taller than the house where I live.
And my tree does not have leaves at this moment.

108N
3/17/2013 10:24:25 pm

1. Since last week, my tree hasn't changed much. It appears that some of the "Cherry Bomb" like objects may have fallen off.

108n
3/17/2013 11:10:40 pm

I didn't discover anything new about my tree.

108n
3/17/2013 11:17:45 pm

3. My tree has 3 to 4 main branches with many smaller branches emerging from them. It has a large trunk. To measure it, I figure I can start at one end of the tree moving the width of my body. I can move about 6 times before I reach the point where I started. I can then measure the width of my body and multiply it by 6.

108n
3/17/2013 11:23:23 pm

I believe my tree is strong because the roots have distorted the sidewalk sidewalk. The cement has been pushed up from the force of the roots growth. I also believe it won't be long before it starts to produce new leaves!

108n
3/17/2013 11:31:00 pm

Since my tree appears to be mature, I don't think it is growing in length or diameter very much. However, any growth that does occur may be lost with the breakage of branches and shedding of bark. I believe my tree is Oak.
