Are there any changes to the tree since your last observation?
Do you notice something you didn't before?
Describe the different parts of your tree.
Do you have new thoughts about your tree based on what we learned in class?
How might you describe your tree's growth or measure your tree?

The buds are getting bigger and some have bloomed.
I have one thought - my tree is very helpful

My tree has not grown but I have noticed more branches. To measure my growth later I could ruler trick we learned in class.

My guess is that those spikey balls are sweet gum seed pods. You can find them all over the parks and sidewalks. They house the small seeds that will eventually become new seedling trees!

Do you know what kind the blossoms are?

The bark of my tree is cracked and in some places there is no brown bark, it got chipped off, just-grayish-white and white. On the bottom-right side of the trunk, there is a patch of light-green moss. Around the bottom of the trunk there is more dark-green moss. The top of the tree has the thickest branches. Where the branches start on the trunk is where the thinnest branches are. Low on the tree trunk, you can see where the roots start, and there the sidewalk is either split open or slanted up because of how big the roots are. The sidewalk also goes a little under the roots. My tree, based on how tall it's grown, I say is about little more than 70 years of age.

Your tree must be in a healthy environment if it lives for about 70 years!

I love these detailed observations! I also appreciate that you all are thinking about what kind of environment the tree is living in and how that could affect it. A healthy environment is important! The city is a particularly hard environment for the trees but we are lucky that they are so resilient and tough plants. However, we can make things better for them in a tough environment by not making it worse. Do you have ideas about how to help your tree grow in the best possible environment?

Most of the bark of my tree is a really dark brown, but here and there are some tan bits. My tree has a thick trunk with 3 large branches coming out of it. One of the branches is on the right side of my tree, the other 2 are on the left side and branch out of each other. There is a large knot in between the left branches and the right branch, and it almost looks like a fourth branch that someone chopped down. Coming out of those 3 thick branches is the rest of the tree, but only really thin branches. There are getting to be a few more plants around my tree, and moss is growing fast in between the bricks. Especially around the planter. This is just a guess, but I would say my tree and the 7 other trees, are about 50 to 60 feet tall. I think the part of my tree that makes the pods is male, so it doesn't make any pods, it just makes pollen. There is only one tree with a part that is female out of the 8 trees in the courtyard in front of my house. Me and my family share the courtyard with about 50 other houses and the people who live in them. My tree's bark is darker than the sky 7:45 PM in the middle of March. The planter that my tree is in has some neon pink chalk on it. A little bit of blue as well. I did not put it there. My five-year-old next door neighbor did it on March 13, 2013 at 6:06PM.

I think my tree is 100 years old because of the size and the height of the tree.My tree is starting to grow buds and thats how I know that early spring is comeing.

Buds are growing out of the top.
The trunk is spreading out at the bottom.
The trunk makes a V making it look like there are two trunks.
There are lots of branches.
The root is growing out of the sidewalk cement and into the street.
My tree is bigger than my house.

My tree is small. There are little berries starting to grow on the tree. My tree is near the street. My tree was planted by one of my neighbors. Down the tree is 10 more trees in a row.

You're lucky. Even in late spring, my tree only has leaves. It never blossoms. As I mentioned in one of my other comments, my tree is a honey locust. This means if the right part of my tree is female, it grows pods. My tree doesn't even grow pods!

Patience is a virtue! Sometimes some trees are "late bloomers" or don't develop leaves as early as other trees. If you keep observing my guess is that you'll see something start to happen over spring break!

its going to grow because my species of tree is more like a bush.

To 109n:
My tree is not growing up. It is growing out though.1 or 2 times a decade, we have to trim the 8 trees to keep them from growing out and touching the houses. Once a branch from the tree next to my tree, was so close to my window, there was only about a foot between my window and the branch!

The circumference of my tree's trunk is about 207 centimeters. I couldn't figure out how tall my tree is, even when I watched the video and tried both the methods. My tree is just to tall. I got 85 centimeters for a tree taller than a 3 story building. Crazy right? That's why I thought that it probably wasn't the accurate measurement.

You were at least able to get one type of measurement. We can review the other method again in school.

the changes in my tree are that the leaves are more greener and the tree has much more leaves.I think the bark is starting to peel off. Im starting to wonder if my tree is a evergreen or a pine.
here are some measurements of my tree:
trunk circumference: 41.8 cm
vertical height: 366 cm

My tree is on 43rd street between walnut and locust street, very close to our school. It is side walk tree in front of Fairfax apartment. It is newly planted small Crataegus tree. I chose this tree because it is in front of my apartment and I can see it every day. It has light grey bark and some old berries are hanging on the branches. My tree has no buds yet.

I love that you're making a prediction about it's rings. If it has had a good healthy environment with lots of sunshine and water, it probably does have nice thick rings!

My trees circumference is 325 cm and about 45 feet tall. It has not got buds yet but I think it will soon. Last year its buds were greenish. It has a lot of squirrels and birds in it. It has a place shaped like a horse shoe where I think a branch got cut off.

1.Pinecones are growing at the top of the tree.
2.There are 2 tree limbs are cut off. At first, I thought that there was only 1 limb cut off. Maybe the people who lived there first with the tree did it. Who knows?
3. There is rough bark with cracks running up and down the tree,
and there are many branches with hundreds of pine needles on them.
4.My new thoughts based on what we learned are: How tall is my tree? Maybe I can find out using that ruler trick I learned. I wonder how old my tree is. And, maybe I can find out by counting the rings.
5. I would measure my tree using that little ruler trick. I would describe my tree's growth by about an inch a year.

This week, I noticed that the top layer of my tree's bark looks looser. The bark look like its cracking and spliting and peeling. My tree has white stuff on its branches I think its moss.

I measured the trunk of my tree last week it was 115 centimeters.
