For this week, continue to make basic observations of your tree. However also think about how you think your tree might contribute to the environment it's a part of and the human community around it?

Have you observed any changes or something new about your tree since last time?
How is your tree a part of it's surroundings?
What could impact the growth of your tree?
How is your tree an important part of it's ecosystem?
How does your tree benefit the environment around it (other plants, soil, animals, water, etc.)?
How does your tree benefit the human community around it?
Are there new thoughts you have about your tree based on what we discussed in class?

Comment with your room number as assigned letter.

I just noticed that there is hollow place in my tree. It is probably occupied by a bird or. It is uphigh. I Spotted it while I was in my room which is on the third floor of my house. As spring approaches my tree starts to bloom.

I noticed that there are some small buds forming on the branches of my cherry tree this week. My tree is an important part of it's surroundings and environment because it provides flowers for insects/bees in the beginning of spring (April/May) and then later, sour cherry fruit. This fruit is a source of food for both animals and the humans in my neighborhood. My family has met several neighbors wishing to pick our cherries every June. For two weeks there are lots of people harvesting! Unfortunately, because of the large section that broke off, I worry that my tree may become infested with insects or disease and have a short life ahead of it. Last year we noticed other branches growing larger than they used to and filling up some of the space where the old branch was. Measuring my tree growth would most likely be done by observing the branches and noticing new sprouts coming off of them since it is an older tree with limited yard space.

1)My tree has more buds than last time.
2)My tree is part of my backyard and it is the only tree there so, it takes up most of the water and sunlight.
3)If we planted another bigger tree it would have to compete for water/sunlight. If we started throwing garbage in my backyard or we polluted in some other way, that could harm it.
4)My tree could provide homes for birds or other animals. It absorbs water and sunlight as nutrients.
5)As I said, it could provide homes for animals.
6)My tree can give us shade in the summer, and it looks nice in my backyard.

Sorry! I acsadently hit submit! To impact the growth on my tree I can give it freash soil and water it more often. My tree is an important part of its ecosystem because it provides food and shelter ot animals. It can shelter other plants and animals in storms. My tree can benifit people because trees can give us natural recorses. I have thought about my tree more different. Now i want to save trees.

My tree hasn't really been changing. It is growing but very slowly. It is mot changing in a way that you can see. If there wasn't any decomposers in the soil it would affect my tree. My tree is important to the ecosystem because it is home to many animals and it feeds them. The tree benefits my community my providing us with shade which all of us are very thankful for in the hot summer. I wonder if there were any RED WOOD trees on my block along, long time ago.
