After selecting one tree to adopt for the month of March, please let us know:

  • The address or specific location of your tree (we will be creating a map of our adopted trees)

  • What your tree looks like and what type of tree you think it is (You do not need to know the specific kind of tree yet, just describe it if you can)

  • What is around your tree (Are there other trees, is there a building, is it on the street, etc.)

  • Why you chose that particular tree

The location is 43rd Spruce. My tree looks slanted, brown, tall, raggedy, and that it is full of orange leaves leaves. The things that are around my tree is a field and a building and a bench. I chose this tree because it has the most leaves around the tree's area.

I know that tree! It's in the field right? It's huge!

I wonder why some trees hold onto their leaves longer than others do? I like the use of the adjective "raggedy", it's a great way to describe the tree!

My tree is in 44th st. and Spruce.
My tree is Old, rough, ragedy, and leafless.
This tree is on a curb and looks like the roots do not have much room.
I chose this tree because because it looks like it is struggling to survive and because i can see it every day.

Are the roots the main reason you think this tree is struggling? It is true that many trees in our city and most cities are not in ideal environments and have a lot of stress on them that trees in a forest outside the city wouldn't have to deal with. So I'm glad you're taking notice of how hard these trees fight to survive in the city!

My tree is located on regent square between 42nd and 43rd street.
My tree looks like it has 3 trunks,it is light tannish brown, there are no leaves, and the bark is pealing. Near my tree are other plants, my house, and my neighbors' jungle gym. I chose this tree because it is in my backyard and it looks interesting.

I like when trees have multiple trunks. It makes me think of those strange anomaly animals that have two heads and one body!

My tree doesn't have leaves. It is a light brown and it is in the middle of a small and a tall tree. My tree is located on 44th and Spruce. It is surrounded by beautiful grass and bushes. I chose this tree because it think it looks cool and I see it everyday when I walk to school.

I'm curious what makes the grass look beautiful to you? Is it because the grass is lush and a pretty green color or another reason?

My tree is old and has no leaves. It is on 44th and larch wood. It has shrubbery around the bottom of it and I walk past it every day. I chose this tree because it always produces shade even when it has no leaves and it interests me.

That is interesting that it provides shade even without leaves. I also like the it has shrubbery around it. Many trees planted benefit from having other smaller plants at it's base to help the soil under the ground.

I like the description of it looking "boney". I have never thought before about how some tree branches and/or trunks look similar to bones.

My tree is on 43rd street between Pine and Osage. It has a medium sized trunk, when it has leaves they are light green and oval. The trunk is very smooth, the branches are not very thick, but are wide.It is a light brown tree, about two stories high. It is a honey locust. My house is around, other trees are around it, on a sidewalk. I chose this tree because when I was little, I helped my dad plant it, and I can see it from my window.

Observing a tree we helped plant or have known for a long time is always nice!

My tree is located on 43rd and Spruce. It is in the penn alexander feild (The one the 5th graders have recess on). It is standing tall and it is sitting on this hill place (Not the one next to the pic building.). Its bark is rough and it has no leaves. Its roots are sticking out of the soil. Like I said before, it is in a yard. There are these weird bush thingies but right now there are no leaves on them. It is also near the school. I chose this tree because I see this tree like, two times a day (Morning Recess and Lunch Recess) and because it looked nice to me.
That's All! *-*

Very nice description of it's location. I think I even know which tree you might be talking about. Roots sticking out of the soil can be fun to see. It always makes me wonder what the roots look like that are below my feet underground that I just don't see.

My tree is small. It is still growing and it is healthy. I don't let any animals damage it!
