Week # 3 - Trees, Environment and Community

For this week, continue to make basic observations of your tree. However also think about how you think your tree might contribute to the environment it's a part of and the human community around it?

Have you observed any changes or something new about your tree since last time?
How is your tree a part of it's surroundings?
How is your tree good for the environment around it (other plants, soil, animals, water, etc.)?
How is your tree good for the human community around it?
Are there new thoughts you have about your tree based on what we discussed in class?

My tree has fewer leaves at the top and more leaves at the bottom. It is a hollywood tree and the leaves got wider. The leaves are dark on the top and light on the bottom.

My tree is in my yard.
It gives shade.It gives plums.It makes oxygen.
It is a home for animals.
The bud are bigger.

My tree is important to my neighborhood,the nature around it, and humans! It is important to us because it produces oxygen for humans and also, without trees, we wouldn't have what we have now as a resource such as paper, firewood for campfires,cabins,etc.It also is a home for many insects and animals. And no, nothing changed since the last time i saw it!

My tree has one new bud. My tree contributes to the natural environment by making oxygen and using carbon dioxide. Also, my tree looks pretty. My tree is in the back alley. It is surrounded by dirt and concrete. My tree is under the branches of a bigger tree. My tree benefits the environment around it by shading smaller plants and animals. My tree is used by squirrels, birds, and bugs. My tree benefits the human community by looking pretty, by making oxygen, and by producing shade. The only problem that we have with this tree is that sometimes the branches get too long and we have to trim them. As for new observations about my tree, my tree has big flat leaves. It does not have needles. I think my tree is an adult. It does not grow very much each year. My family takes care of the tree. We named it "Little Tree".

Trees bring oxygen. They make the street look beautiful. Trees give shade without them we could get hot.

My tree helps people breath by giving oxygen. My tree provides shade for the animals. It also helps them hide. I think my tree is growing cuneate leaves.

My tree helps people to breathe better because it makes oxygen. It also helps people and the environment by providing shade and beauty. My tree was planted by the city as a row of trees along the street. My tree helps water get into the ground because the roots loosen the dirt to allow the water to get in. Trees provide food for animals and branches for them to climb in. I don't see any buds on my tree yet.

My tree grew even taller and little leaf buds are starting to come out.

My tree has brownish/reddish buds. They look big for a bud. There are also just a few seed pods -- maybe five. I noticed that the trunk and branches look strange, curving funny and going backwards. Maybe this is because it has been cut a lot probably because there are telephone wires. I think it's going to die and I'm worried about it. I think it still could give us oxygen.

My tree is losing its old brown leaves from last year. It does not have any buds yet. There is a squirrel living in my tree.

The buds on my tree grow bigger. Some buds open a little bit. My tree will have beautiful flowers and thick branches. Everyone will like that tree. My tree is lined up with other trees on Pine Street. There are houses around my tree. The trees around my tree have roots under the soil. They hug the soil so the soil will not be washed away by rain water. There are birds and squirrels on my tree. These animals are happy, My tree makes oxygen. We and other animals need oxygen to live.

My tree makes my street looks nice. My tree is helping me breathe by supplying me with oxygen and fresh air. Trees provide animals with food and shelter. I think that my tree is a habitat for bugs, squirrels, birds, and other animals. Some squirrels hide their nuts in the trees for the winter. People make paper and pencils with the trees. Trees provide woods so we can build homes and keep us warm by the fireplace. This week I saw buds on my tree because it is Spring time. My tree is 2 story high.

1) I saw some leaves growing.
2) It grows out of dirt, but the dirt is surrounded by concrete
3) It helps animals find homes, and it helps grow more trees because its seeds can fall and make more trees
4) It gives us air. It is beautiful too.

My tree give us fresh air and provide birds and squirrels homes. My tree is surrounded by other trees. It benefits people by providing something beautiful to look at when it blooms. The tree is getting kinda big and there is no more sun in our backyard and the plants/grass won't grow. My observation for this week is that there are more buds about to bloom on the tree.
